Abstract

Influence of age and sex about morphofunctional characteristics of PRL cells in ovine Segureña bread, is studied using immunocytochemical procedures for light and electron microscopy, and morphometnc technique. PRL cells increase in nurnber and size with age and sex. Ultrastructurally is a heterogeneous cellular population which depends of development of rough endoplasmic reticulum, Golgi complex and granular size. In prepuber females there is an increasing of hormonal synthetic activity. Forty per cent of cells of adult females have signs of inactivity. PRL type 11 cells predominate in al1 animals.
