Resumen

During these last years the definition of the paternal role has suffered a change regarding that traditionally were assumed as beliefs on the same one. The objective of this study is to analyze the social representation of the conditions of paternity and non paternity. In the study 80 fathers with employment have participated. It was carried out an analysis of content of the answers raised through a task of free association. The results show that the men describe the condition of paternity by means of a wider semantic field and of more wealth that the one used for the condition of non paternity. At the same time it appears a positive social representation of paternity that of non paternity, situation that spreads to reproduce for the high level of abstraction which is defined the paternal role.
