Abstract

Considering the frequent lack of autonomy of the genre of short story from its very origins, together with its presence in various novel-like forms, this study aims at revising the intercalation of stories in the 16th century novel production. With this aim and according to the traditional principle of consecution of unity within variety in the literary work, we have analysed the short stories wich apperar intercalated in three works of this centhury wich are outstanding examples of novel-like forms, representative of their age.
