Abstract

Beauty, according to Ibn cArabi, is pronounced to men in two ways: on one hand, by the elevation and power of the divine presence, named Majesty of Beauty, which we must respond through a spiritual state of privacy to accomplish balance during both contemplation and a correct apprehension; on the other hand, through proximity, aspect of Beauty, that should be received with fear for a proper response to God¿s expansion towards us, achieving in consequence, our gathering with Him. Those who love because of the divine love, contemplate the wisdom echoed in both: the universe as well as in themselves. Ibn cArab also explained the application of these names to the reading of the Koran. The Prophet sustained the importance of spiritual embellishment achieved by a correct conduct and the contemplation of Beauty, this last one characterized by making all things likable and knowledgeable. Everything is inclined to be self loved, but this is only possible because of Reality¿s divinity; since God created the world to His image, it is considered as a mirror in which He contemplates and loves Himself.
