Zusammenfassung
The purpose of this paper is to offer a critical analysis of the empirical research on age related differences which may be relevant to justify the introduction of foreign languages in the primary school. First, we discuss some of the empirical evidence both for and against the idea that children are better second language learners than adults. Finally, a number of conclusions related to the teaching of foreign languages at primary school level are suggested
