Abstract

Molecular and phenotypic information of micoplasmas involved in contagious agalactia(CA) in Spain (Mycoplasma agalactiae, Mycoplasma mycoides subsp. capri and Mycoplasmacapriculum subsp capricolum), including information about the antibiotic sensitivity of theisolates, has been obtained during the development of the Research Project AGL2013-44771-R. This information is of interest to better understand the dynamics of CA in thecountry, and also can support the use of more specific control strategies based on the differences detected between the species. For example, it could improve the antibioticcontrol of CA by selecting the appropriate drug to be used in each case for the treatmentof infected animals. One of the aims of the mentioned project was the development ofan on-line tool with information on isolates (genetic bank) of interest and monitoring ofMa and Mmc. This tool, named VIGIAGA-C, is currently ready to use in the web page:http://www.um.es/web/sanidadderumiantes/contenido/vigiaga-c with the most usefulinformation related to the characteristics of the mycoplasma isolates studied during theProject.
