Abstract

The aim of this study, wich is part of a larger research project on personality, victimization and psychological consequences (Patró, Corbalán and Limiñana, 2007, 2008), aims to explore the differential profiles of personality styles between three groups of women with varying degrees of victimization in their life history (female general population, women victims of intimate partner violence and female victims of intimate partner violence and child). To do this, we use the model of Millon personality and the inventory developed by the author to assess normal personality styles (MIPS) (Millon, 2001). The approach of this research aims to contextualize the study of personality characteristics in women abused by intimate partner victimization in a perspective where they can be taken into account the characteristics of the life history of the subjects in the understanding of its characteristic style of thinking, feeling and acting. Furthermore, and within a forensic perspective, it is intended to highlight the importance for a proper and complete evaluation of psychological assessment not only of posttraumatic symptomatology present at the victim, but also other less visible consequences, but a depth deeper into the person, as are any changes, alterations or accents of their personality characteristics.
