Abstract

In order to address in the classroom a socio-scientific issue such as climate change (CC), it is necessary to know the stu-dents’ ideas, their perception of the effectiveness of various actions to mitigate it and their willingness to carry them out. With this aim, the results of 48 semi-structured interviews with 10th. grade students are presented in this work. Studentsrecognize the key role of human action in CC, although only a minority point to their individual responsibility. Whenwe explore the relationship between the perceived effectiveness of a set of actions and their willingness to perform them,it is observed that those which involve greater personal effort are perceived as less useful, and students are less willing totackle them.
