Resumo

The aim of this study is to analyze the influence of violent behaviors and attitudes towards violence displayed in the school environment in adolescents. In addition, a description of psychosocial characteristics (sex, age, education level) is performed and relationships with them. A sample of 181 participants aged between 14 and 19 years from2 schools in the Region of Murcia was selected. The results indicated that 47.3% were boys, the average age of 15.89 and school grades: 23.8% Unsatisfactory; 19.0% Satisfactory; 26.8% Good; 22.6% Very good; y 7.1% Excellent. The results of this study indicate that, statistically significant associations between male and direct and overt aggression inreactive form; and, between male and attitudes toward violence in all forms. There is a moderate causal association between violent behavior in the school and attitudes toward violence in adolescents in all forms, except for instrumental relational aggression and violence perceived as legitimate. From these findings, it is necessary to develop effective preventive strategies to combat bullying and school violence.
