Fraseología y oralidad prefabricada en la traducción de diálogos fílmicos

Resumen

This study focuses on the role played by phraseology in audiovisual translation from Italian into Spanish. The objective is to discuss the role of fixed expressions –in particular, locutions and phraseological statements (especially phraseological pragmatic units)– in the construction of prefabricated spoken language in film dubbing and subtitling. Considering that the language used in audiovisual translation, mainly in dubbing, has often been described as contrived and stilted, this work holds that the translation of phraseological units greatly affects the spontaneous and ordinary nature of fictional dialogues. In order to verify this hypothesis, this paper intends: to explore why and how phraseology affects the construction of prefabricated spoken language in film texts and to examine differences between dubbing and subtitling when dealing with phraseological units. Results are based on a qualitative, descriptive study of a parallel bilingual corpus of three Italian films dubbed and subtitled into Spanish.
