Abstract

It is known that divorce is a complicated process. Sometimes, we found children who refuse to have relationship with one of their parents after divorce without real reasons for this reject. This disorder is known as Parental Alienation Syndrome (PAS). The aim of this paper was to present the opinion and use about PAS in a sample of 55 forensic psychologists. We found that forensics are frequently asked about PAS in their forensic assesments, but also frequently they refuse to name the syndrome. We also found a group of psychologists who are opposed to the recognition of this syndrome. The reasons could be based in the consideration of the PAS like a type of gender abuse. Other group of forensic psychologists recognizes the syndrome and recognizes SAP like a type of child abuse. Forensics psychologists must have academic, technical and ethical formation and professional experience
