Resum
The aim of this research was to evaluate the endurance of extensor muscles of trunk through Biering-Sorensen Test (BST) in students from 12 to 18 years and observe the influence of body mass, height and body mass index (BMI) on test performance. The sample consisted of 69 students (14.32±1.32 years), 35 boys and 34 girls. The Pearson correlation coefficient (r) was used to assess the relationship between different variables, and the T-Student test was used to determine if there are differences between genders in test performance. The results showed that girls held the horizontal position longer than boys, being these differences significant (p<.05). In addition, BST reached significant (p<.01) and negative correlations with body mass and BMI. In conclusion, the girls show a higher performance in the BST, and the different anthropometric variables must be taken into account when analyzing the results.
