Resumen

Introduction:The professional liability practice presents postulates, principles and concepts that define the health professions. The ethics committees of the health professions, and in particular the Ethics Commissions of Professional Colleges of Nursing, is characterized by including the ethical component thereof. Objective: Analyze the importance of Ethics Commissions within the Professional Colleges of Nursing, as a sign of progress and instrument to new challenges within the nursing profession in the XXI century. Material and method: Descriptive and reflective study through a literature review of the last 10 years, about the Ethics Commissions and Professional Colleges of Nursing, in which we analyze the history, evolution and future within the nursing profession and its institutions. Discussion: Nursing is a healthcare profession entitled, and Article 2 of the Law on the Regulation of Health Professions states: In accordance with Article 36 of the constitution, for the purposes of this Act are entitled and regulated health professions, those whose undergraduate or specialized training is aimed specifically and primarily to give stakeholders the knowledge, skills and attitudes of health care, which are organized in officially recognized by the authorities professional bodies, in accordance with the provisions of the regulations specifically applicable. Conclusion: Nursing Professional Associations have played a fundamental role in the evolution of the nursing profession in the last 150 years of our history, and today, through the Ethics Commissions have for homework, ensure ethical values and legal profession.
