Zusammenfassung

During the last few decades has increased female participation in the labor market. The decision of women to join the labor market depends on social factors: age, education, marital status, family care; and economic factors as the real wages. Despite the increase in female participation, gender employment gap persists. Most research on employment gap are focused on national territory but labor markets function on a regional scale. This research uses spatial analysis techniques to identify the explanatory factors the employment gap in local labor markets in the Region of Murcia. Knowing the structure of the population with low levels of employment by gender is valuable information for the design and implementation of social policies.
