Resumen

Aunque existe un reconocimiento general en la literatura de que la capacitación mejora el desempeño de una empresa, la investigación empírica no siempre proporciona evidencia que respalde este efecto. Una posible explicación es que la capacitación no tiene un efecto directo sobre el desempeño, sino un efecto indirecto al mejorar otros resultados organizacionales. Este artículo sugiere que el aprendizaje organizacional es una de esas variables y que media la relación entre la formación y el desempeño y que la adopción de una formación orientada al aprendizaje mejora el desempeño a través de su efecto positivo en el aprendizaje organizacional. A partir de una muestra de empresas españolas obtenemos evidencia empírica que respalda la opinión de que este efecto mediador está presente.
