Resumen

First dwellers of the Iberian Peninsula were already aware about the importance of the Gea for its artisan use. In a local context, we can find the first examples of places and trades related to the traditional uses of geodiversity, many of them abandoned, forgotten, and even disappeared nowadays. It is necessary and urgent, therefore, to draw up inventories of traditional uses of geodiversity to prevent this important Spanish heritage from disappearing. Since the approval of 42/2007 Law, of December 13, on Natural Heritage and Biodiversity and with Royal Decret 556/2011, of April 20, it is possible to elaborate a national inventory of traditional uses of geodiversity, since the current inventory focuses only on traditional knowledge of biodiversity. Considering the current legislation, the first inventory of traditional knowledge of geodiversity in Spain has been created in the Huéscar region (Granada), where concepts and their acronyms related to traditional knowledge and uses have been proposed. This first inventory is undoubtedly an excellent model for the preparation of a future Spanish inventory of traditional knowledge and uses of geodiversity.
