Abstract
This study analyzed the relevance of the sports practitioner's view on the prediction of the motives of health and fitness to exercise through the autonomy and intrinsic motivation. Materials and Methods: We used a sample of 391 practitioners of non-competitive physical activities, aged between 16 and 72 years-old. We measured the perception of practitioners about the interest shown by the technician in the practitioner's view, the perception of autonomy, the intrinsic motivation and the fitness-health motives. Results: The results of the structural equation modelling showed that interest in view of the practitioner predicted positively autonomy. Autonomy predicted the intrinsic motivation and intrinsic motivation positively predicted 19% of variance of health and fitness motives. Discussion: Results are discussed according to the professionals in the practice of physical activities directed to health and fitness must take into account the opinion of the practitioners to promote greater autonomy and intrinsic motivation.
