Resumo
The ancestral activity of the struggle as constant for survival has made it probably the oldest object of competition, has been present at the Olympic Games of antiquity since 708 BC and in the modern era at the I JJOO in Athens 1 896. The Olympic Wrestling has 18 different tests and 72 medals, becoming the combat sport with the most medals in the Olympic program. For this purpose, a qualitative methodology is used through the analysis of descriptive, retrospectivev and interpretative type content. It was conducted with life stories and a semi-structured interview with twenty-four Spanish Olympic Wrestling athletes participating in at least one Olympic Games. The results showed that the age to start in wrestling sports was between 12 and 14 years, reaching the high performance around 19 years, making the coach's work decisive. Social factors should be considered when planning the training process, the personal environment has been crucial support with its peers first and secondly the family as the most relevant aspects. In the training process dimension, it is found that the passage through specialized sports centers has been definitive for the achievement of its objectives. From a psychological point of view, they consider that they have not adequately worked the psychological aspects, assessing that they are fundamental in high competition if you want to achieve excellence, consider motivation and self-confidence as variables, important for athletic performance. Technical-tactical training believes that they are the most important and determining components in high competition. In the physical condition dimension, strength is the most outstanding quality by athletes, followed by endurance and speed. Finally, in the training processes the best technicians must be at the beginnings, creating an adequate and familiar climate around sports technology centers.
