Resumen

Citizens' concerns about environmental problems (such as climate change, freshwater shortages, CO2 and deforestation) in postmodern societies have been steadily increasing over the last 50 years. In addition, in recent decades, researchers have tried to understand the causes of environmentally friendly citizens’ behaviour. In this context, the ecological behaviour of ecotourists as consumers remains a field of research that offers opportunities to study the psychographic, cultural, economic and demographic factors underlying this behaviour. This research validates the model of value, norms and beliefs towards the environment and adds a construct of the theory of reasoned action to explain the behaviour of ecotourists as consumers of products or services. The study is performed from a cross-cultural perspective in two different countries, Chile and Spain.
