Abstract

In the last fifty years, concern for environmental issues (climate change, pollution, freshwater shortages, etc.) are gradually changing the habits, attitudes and behaviors of consumers in general and tourists in particular. The main objective of this paper is to analyze the behavior of ecotourists visiting protected natural areas in two countries where ecotourism has great economic importance, Chile and Spain. To do this, demographic, socioeconomic and psychographic factors (Fraj and Martinez, 2004 be identified; Miguens Lopez Alvarez and Gonzalez, 2015) that influence this type of alternative tourism, moderated by the cultural factor as a differentiating factor between the two countries. On the other hand, the circumstances that influence the intention to visit ecotourists from both countries will be compared. For this analysis, a proposed conceptual model that includes various scales, previously collated in the review of literature, discussed through structural equations is performed. Similarly, the conceptual model is intended to facilitate segmentation of tourist markets through the study of various latent variables proposals and other internal and external variables of the consumer
