Résumé

This study describes the construction of a dataset of long-term precipitation in the Region of Murcia (southeast Spain), based upon 41 monthly series obtained from the Spanish Agencia Estatal de Meteorologia (AEMET). The first available measurements of precipitation in Murcia are recorded in 1863 at the station of Murcia City, with 5 stations available in the early 1910s, around 20 in the 1940s, and all since the mid- 1950s. Particular emphasis is placed upon homogenization and gap filling of the series. The temporal variability and trend of the precipitation in Murcia have been studied for the whole Region of Murcia (period 1914-2013) on annual basis, which shows a slight decrease that it is statistically non-significant. Finally, there is a poor agreement between the changes in the observed precipitation series and the estimated by the 20th Century Reanalysis Project.
