Resumo

The aim of this research was to find out the relationship of self perception of motor competence with the level of regular physical and sport activity in students from the region of Murcia. In order to achieve this, a scale called IAFHE was validated and it was applied to a definite sample of 213 school children with ages between 10 and 12. Self perception of motor competence is a variable that relates positively with global levels of regular physical activity. This circumstance is caused, probably, as the subjects that have higher levels of motor coordination and feel competent in the practice of sport, are keener to reproduce their models of physical and sport practice more repeatedly. As conclusion, the study said the need to guide the promotion of physical and sport practice toward models of motor competence development, to facilitate to students the participation in sport outside school.
