Abstract
The article analyzes the criterion established by the European Union regarding the starting point of the limitation period for civil liability actions arising from infringements of competition rules declared by national authorities (the Nissan Iberia criterion). It also assesses its consistency with the case-law and judicial doctrine of the Court of Justice of the European Union and its impact on Spanish jurisprudence, providing an assessment of its legal basis and considering the distinctive features of the special and harmonized system of civil liability for competition infringements.
