Abstract

The music of the court of Alfonso V the Magnanimous transports us to the splendour of the The Regional World Dance Gathering was created as an initiative to train teachers in music and dance in the Region of Murcia. Through this initiative, the aim is to promote and bring the practice of world dance closer to schools and institutes in order to generate a practical, fun, co-educational, intercultural, and convivial environment. The objective of this study is to determine the origin and evolution of the Dance Gatherings of the Region of Murcia since their inception in 2004. It was conducted through a qualitative study based on documentary analysis of project reports, official documents, and analysis of the Gathering website, as well as open interviews. The main results include broad participation with more than 22,000 students, 26 different dances from 18 countries, and the main dance form of the circle.
