Abstract
Oral bisphosphonates are antiresorptive drugs indicated to prevent and treat diseases with bone resorption. Since 2003, the use of these drugs has been linked to the development of osteonecrosis of the jaws, especially those that are nitrogenous. To date, the etiopathogenesis of bone necrosis associated with the use of bisphosphonates (BRONJ) remains uncertain. Currently there is a “lack of evidence” of standardized protocols for the prevention and treatment of BRONJ in the field of dentistry
