Abstract

Territorio de Jaime “el Barbudo” is a signposted heritage itinerary in the Sierra de la Pila and surrounding areas(Abarán, Jumilla and Fortuna), which highlights the intangible legacy lef by one of the most famous bandits in thesoutheast of the peninsula. Written documentation, toponymy and an oral tradition which is very present in thoselatitudes have been the sources used to promote the traces of the counterrevolutionary Jaime José Cayetano AlfonsoJuan “el Barbudo” (1783-1824), whose public execution marks two hundred years. Te itinerary, inaugurated in2022, was planned from the cultural project - ecomuseum “Legado Vivo” by the associations “La Carraila” and“Caramucel, naturaleza e historia”, being co-fnanced by the Department of Tourism of the Abarán City Council.
