Abstract

High or recurrent maternal alcohol consumption during pregnancy is responsible of health outcomes for thedeveloping fetus such as learning disabilities or fetal alcohol syndrome.Public health authorities recommend alcohol abstinence for pregnantwomen, but still a number of pregnant women drink alcohol. Literatureshows as potential factors for alcohol consumption during pregnancy:age, education, socioeconomic status, number of pregnancies/children,smoking and partner alcohol consumption. There is not much knowledge about the role of accessibility to alcohol or drinking patterns inthe neighbourhood. Objective: to asses the role of the partner and theneighbourhood over the behaviour of the pregnant women regardingalcohol showing the impact of social interactions.
