Abstract
The Lisbon Treaty (2007) provided the European Union a Common Security and Defence Policy in order to, among other things, try to reinforce its role as an actor in the international order. The events unleashed after the Arab Spring and the outbreak of two armed conflicts in Syria and Libya have allowed to judge the European Union’s aptitude as such. This article tends to analyse the current EU security and defence capabilities in the light of the measures applied to those crisis, as well as evaluate its implication and the results obtained.
