Abstract
The lithotomy position during the second stage of childbirth labour, is the most common in women with epidural, due to the difficulty to keep vertical positions. This has been classified as harmful and damaging with a clear scientific evi-dence. The World Health Organization classifies it as a harmful practice during labour and recommends that it should be eliminated. A possible alternative would be the lateral position of modificated Sims, whose benefits are praised by some scientific studies. Aim. Analyze traditional lithotomy position against modificated Sims position in the second phase of the expulsion period in order to compare the perineal trauma caused to improve the quality of care during the ejection phase in women with epidural fetal and assess their satisfaction with the same. Method. It will be used a random clinical trial which will take place in Virgen de la Arrixaca Hospital with women in active period of childbirth and epidural anaesthesia
