Abstract

The occurrence of the signal crayfish, Pacifastacus leniusculus (Dana, 1852) in the Segura River Basin was detected for the first time in November 2015. Its presence is probably consequence of a deliberate or neglected introduction carried out by citizens. If it expanded in the Segura Basin, the signal crayfish could have serious environmental implications, based on the severe impacts on habitats and native species reported in other regions.
