Abstract
Masive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) are nowadays relevant in the universitycommunity. These courses can register thousand of learners, being this aspect amain part of them. However, there is a fact that MOOCs start with many studentsregistered but with low rates of completion of the courses.This paper present an analysis of the student participation in MOOCs, from earlyresearch and data about the matter, evaluating the characteristics of the digitallearners and the differences that we can find in the engagement in cMOOC orxMOOC, presenting the first view of the experience with MOOC at the Univeristy ofMurcia (coordinated by the Unit of Innovation, in collaboration with ATICA), andending with a series of proposals to improve the participation of students who start aMOOC.
